The key issues

Professionals tell us:

they sometimes lack confidence in dealing with issues related to mix-d identity, including changing terminology and the ongoing limitations in the vocabulary of the subject area. They also regularly comment on the lack of specialist materials and countrywide perspectives.

Families and parents tells us:

they need clearer support on issues ranging from the subtleties of culture through to simple practicalities such as hair and skincare. Some lone parents have told us of particular isolation from support and solutions.

Young people tell us:

they can feel underrepresented within the school curriculum in regard to their mix-d race heritage. This can add to confusion and frustration around identity.
